Questions in progress

Research

Urban Climate Notes is informed by research at the intersection of climate science, urban planning and geospatial analysis.

Urban Climate

Understanding how global climate processes interact with local urban environments.

Urban Morphology

Examining how the physical structure of cities influences thermal conditions.

Remote Sensing

Using Earth observation data to monitor urban surfaces and thermal change over time.

GIS and Spatial Analysis

Connecting environmental measurements with urban form, land use and planning.

Climate-Responsive Planning

Translating scientific evidence into questions relevant to urban policy, design and adaptation.

Current research direction

Current work examines long-term urban thermal change while explicitly considering the stability and comparability of urban and reference areas.

A particular focus is placed on whether changes observed in remotely sensed temperature reflect climatic processes, changes in urban form, or both.
